IN THE WOODS
$300.00
Ballpoint pen, prismacolor pencils, gel pen, and paint pens on 5.5x7” cold press. I started this piece over a year ago and I don’t think I fully realized the personal symbolism encoded within this until I returned to it to finish it late this summer after several rounds of making “mistakes”/trying to “fix”/getting stuck/changing direction. The lesson has been relentless and hard learned this summer. Strange how difficult the simple act of letting go can really be and how acceptance sometimes only seems to come at the end of a bitter battle that truly, never could be won. Perspective can be hard to find when one is deep in the trees, or out of one’s element, and the courage to fly is often only found after standing in a stillness that can be utterly harrowing.
